• Computers:
  • 486DEX: This is a networked PC (IP 130.191.163.144) that contains the flametracker software, DAS800 data acquisition board, NE2000 network card, a game card for the toggle switch control. Manual for DAS800 is in the 'linear motion' section of the book rack.

  • IBMPC-AT (286): Dedicated for the flameprobe, it has a DAS800 board. A joy stick and two`linear motion indexers are connected to the serial ports.

  • Macintosh II-ci: It has LABview data acquisition board and software, a number of linearizers for K and S type thermocouples a linearizers for K and S type thermocouples (currently in the cabinet. It is connected by apple talk network to the Mac in E323C.

  • Color Printer HP Deskjet 1200/c/PS: Connectable to both the 486 and the apple talk. For PC, dip switches all down, for mac #1 and #2 up, change the serial port connection, turn printer off and on. Do not touch the back of the computers to change the printer connection. All connections to be changed are at the printer's end.

    Manuals, printer driver software etc. are in a zip-loc bag inside the cabinet.

  • Image Writer: Connected to the Mac. Choose the correct printer from the chooser.

  • Printer supplies: Special paper and transparancies are in E323C. To buy cartridges (1200c) go to Office Depot

  • Imaging: An old VCR can be connected to the Mac or the PC if there is a video blaster card. The camera can be mounted on the tripod, use a macro lens. After a picture is developed, take it to room403J, Use the Pentium to scan it (100x100 resolutioin), ftp it to voyager or eng, xv to save as gif to put it on the web.

• Indexers: Three identical indexers, one for flame tracker, and two for x-y probe. Manual on 'linear motion' section.

• Walk-through:
  • North-bench: Some results and print outs, usually emptry work space.

  • West-bench: Printers, scale, digital multimeter, fuel samples (pmma: Commercial plastic supplies, 693-0115, 9369 Dowdy Drive, Ste. F), cellulose, fuel sample holders,

  • South: Work table, Tool cabinet (bottom heavy), vice, cleaning supplies, thermocouple welding area. Ktype .003 (3 mil) diameter wires (yellow and red) are mostly used, see thermocouple section for more details.

  • East: Book shelf with all the Symposium volumes, work desk with electrical supplies in the drawers, cabinet for miscl (papers), barometer, wband db thermometer, rack for all the manuals, cabinet for tools not used much.

  • Middle: Experimental section. See the proper section for more details.

• Machining: We have our own tools for drill and tap, 1/4 inch screw should use 1/4+20 tap, Floyd has a whole range of drill and tap set.6/32 and 1/4 are our favorite. Use the power drill (bottom shelf) for drilling. For more involved machining contact Floyd and use EL101 (ME machine shop).

Software:

• Macintosh: System 7 software is in E323C. Labview software is in the cabinet, video capture software.

• 486 PC: The DOS 6.2.2 software is the disk case on the computer desk. The Windows 3.1 disks are in the drawer of the computer desk. The software installed on this computer includes: Quickbasic 4.5 (track40.exe), Photoshop 2.5, Excel 5.0, Wordperfect 6.0, Trumpet Winsock (and related network applications),and Video Blaster. Backup disks for all of this software is locate in the disk case on the computer desk.

• 286 PC: DOS 5.0, Quickbasic 4.5 (xyp4.exe), LL3 ,Fortran, Backup disks are located in the disk case.
