Professor Craig earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Fuel Technology from The Pennsylvania State University in 1962 and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Louisiana State University in 1967 and 1968, respectively.  He joined San Diego State University in 1968 as an Assistant Professor and was promoted to Professor in 1976.  Prof. Craig has chaired the Department of Mechanical Engineering from 1977 to 1979 and 1996 to 1997.  He served as Dean of the College of Engineering from 1982 to 1995.  Prof. Craig offers thermal science related courses at the undergraduate and graduate level.  Prof. Craig will begin participating in the faculty early retirement program on June 1, 2001.  For the next five years he will be teaching during the Fall semesters only.

Prof. Craig’s research interests have been in the general area of thermal sciences.  He has worked on alternative energy systems such as solar and wind power, and has been involved in the analysis of  engines operating on the Stirling cycle.

Professor Craig is married, and has two children and two grand daughters.
